Casts and braces are necessary for injuries and broken or fractured bones. They keep muscles, bones, and tendons from moving and creating further injury. Casts immobilize the joints above and below the damaged area to keep it from moving thus helping the bone heal and grow back correctly. Braces are designed to stabilize a fracture or surgery site and allow the patient to participate in weight-bearing activities. Some types of braces are designed to enhance circulation and reduce swelling. There are several different types of casts and braces available to patients in our offices to wear after their appointment.
